The story

He created a category nobody believed in.

In 1993 there was no term for what he was proposing. No websites, no industry, no precedent. Just a dentist from Cartago who had noticed something while working as a tour guide: the North Americans he drove around kept telling him the same story about what dental care cost back home.

What followed was not a business plan. It was three years in the desert, one first patient who took a chance, and a decision that would take three decades to prove: that excellence and hospitality are not opposites, and that a patient who travels deserves more scrutiny, not less.

Credentials

Trust you can verify.

Every claim links to its source. A patient flying to another country should never have to take a dentist’s word for it.

The standard

Four things that do not bend.

A standard is not a promise on a website. It is what happens when nobody is watching, on the hardest case, on the worst week of the year.

01

Biology before beauty

Bone and gums are stabilised before a single tooth is shaped. A beautiful result on an unstable foundation is not a result. It is a delay.

02

Say no when it is right

Not every patient is a candidate, and not every request should be granted. The most valuable thing a dentist can offer is sometimes a different plan.

03

One team, start to finish

Diagnosis, surgery, lab and follow-up under one roof. No handoffs to a stranger, no case that becomes nobody's responsibility.

04

The work should not read as dentistry

If you can see the crown, the plan was wrong. The goal is not teeth that look new. It is teeth that look like they were always yours.

The question nobody asks out loud

“What if something goes wrong
once I’m back home?

It is the fear behind every other question, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a marketing one.

Who is responsible if something fails after I travel back?

The clinic is. Every case is reviewed remotely after you return, and any issue related to the work performed is addressed by the same team that did it, not outsourced to a stranger. Ask for this in writing before you book anywhere, including here.

What if the plan changes once you examine me in person?

Sometimes it does. Imaging and a physical exam can reveal what photographs cannot. You will be told before anything begins, with the revised plan and the revised cost. Nothing proceeds without your agreement.

How long do I need to stay?

It depends entirely on the treatment. You will get an honest estimate before you buy a ticket, not after. If the timeline does not work for your life, that is worth knowing early.

What if I am not a good candidate?

Then you will be told so. Saying no when it is right is one of the four principles this practice is built on. A patient who should not travel is a patient who should not travel.

Can my dentist at home handle the follow-up?

In most cases yes, and the clinic will provide the full clinical record, imaging and materials used so any competent dentist can pick up the file.

A second opinion, written by me, on what you have and what it would take. Not a quote and not a sales call. Sometimes the honest answer is that travelling is not worth it for your case, and I will tell you so.
